“A 71 year old with the drive of a teenager.”
We have a few of those in church. Folk with wisdom, experience, respect from their peers, but are young at heart. They are not the silver haired wearing doc martins, or the mature with mohicans. Some of them need their walking sticks, or even wheelchairs. I mean the ageless grace they shine with.
How do they do it? If it’s you, how do you do it?
You have you learned to run and not grow weary. To rise up on wings like eagles, even the bald-headed ones.
And some of our young ones have a maturity beyond their years. Wisdom comes from the mouths of babes. That surely must be the other side of the same coin.
It is confusing. It can be unsettling. But it is to be expected.
The Holy Spirit has a sense of fun in how he distributes gifts. He has an ulterior motive in reinforcing the fact that all are equal in the body of Christ, and guards the fact that it remains so. One Spirit, one purpose – to glorify and make Jesus known, that we may know the Father.
The trick is, I think, to grow in character, in godliness. Be subject to a diet of good holiness-some food. Tuck in.
And congratulations to Mr Ferguson and his players.
