I’ve never been hunting. Foxes, rabbits, or even clay pigeons. I’ve never fired a gun. I have killed insects, though.
I’ve never talked to a hunter either – so I can’t say I understand what hunting is.
I guess there will be a world there of skill, understanding and respect for the prey, as well as danger. And fellowship among those who belong to that world.
The kingdom of God is a world in the same sense – it has its rules and traditions, and a handing down of truth and technique shared, re-discovered and understood among its members.
I wonder how many of the people who go to church realise this.
The purpose of the kingdom of God is to make God’s love known, particularly to those outside it. If it is to hunt something, then that’ll be death! Jesus did say he had come so that we might have life.
So – are you up for a life of death hunting?
