It reminded me of doing the same with my plastic cup of chocolate on the streets of Cleveleys on Saturday, waiting on God and praying for the passing folk with the HOTS* Team.
Being cold inevitably makes me think of those who are surviving on the streets because they are, for whatever reason, homeless. Admiring their courage and resourcefulness. Grateful that some of them, the younger ones, have gravitated to Streetlife to benefit from the understanding, support, fellowship and material help we give them.
I wonder if Jesus was holding a cup of water as he spoke of the sheep and the goats. He homed in on those who found it perfectly normal to share their cup with others in need, and declared that, as far as he was concerned, he accepted their offering as if it was to him. He felt at home there.
Wherever we are, let’s boldly be in the kingdom presence of God, learning to be uninhibited in sharing grace in love and power.
