In the last 6 months have you tried something different in your prayer life? It is one of the challenges I put to church at the APCM. Particularly I had in mind praying with others – supported, and being supported, but more than anything putting yourself in a place where the prayer echoing in your heart is sounded out by someone else. And discovering prayer in this way.
Being silent in prayer for an hour or so might be someone else’s adventure. Prayer in writing. Fasting to concentrate on God. There are always thresholds to cross. Not for the sake of it, but specifically to encounter prayer in God’s spirit.
If you’ve tried something new, please do a reply to this blog and encourage others.
A few weeks ago I broached the idea of church leaders meeting to pray regularly in Cleveleys. It was received favourably, but we didn’t arrange anything straight away. At our meeting this week we referred back to it, and almost casually agreed to meet every Monday morning for a half hour of prayer. We start next week. I am very excited by this. 8.15 to 8.45 (am!) at Cleveleys Baptist. If you want to pray for God’s work in Cleveleys, you are welcome to join us, whenever you can.
I wonder what’s next in the pipeline.
