It can be difficult to receive. We don’t think we deserve it, because we are not good. We don’t respect the giver, though we do not value what is being offered. We don’t think there is any substance to the offer.
It can be difficult to give. We know we should, but are not sure what the consequences would be. We do not want to, we feel hurt ourselves. We daren’t let ourselves do it. It’s a weak thing to do.
The forgiveness Jesus gives is like a bomb. It takes away condemnation, it leaves us feeling loved, it opens up our feeling of grace to others. All the objections I have listed still apply, but it’s too late. We have received forgiveness, and it yearns to be shared from us.
Oh yes, you have to receive it. It wasn’t cheap. But it comes free.
What’s stopping you?
