A chance comment from one of the 8.45 congregation had us visit the barrow and bike festival in Scorton. I’d never heard of it. We find the whole village seemingly out, having pun-inspired dressed wheel barrows and bikes placed around the village as art installations. There were marquees and music, refreshments and crafts. Marshalls in green high visibility jackets completed the sense of ‘event.’
It was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.
Later that afternoon somebody else posted some photographs on their facebook page that they had taken as they wandered around the festival. They were all scenes that we had walked past. The photos framed every picture perfectly, and the arrangement highlighted the theme of red blue and white in the various tableaux. It was almost like the photographer had been to a different, much more vibrant event!
He had seen it with a more discerning eye, and had the skill to share what he saw through media he was familiar with, having fun with, and allowing it to tell a story.
Grace through gifts exercised in love, received and enjoyed.
