Nexus again. Sneaked my iPad in, but as they know I cribbed my blog while Smithy was speaking last time, might not get away with it today. Besides, it’s Jess, who is more likely to play surprises in her presentation.
Topic: is the sermon still a relevant means of communication?
The answer lies not with the preachers, but with the listeners. And asking this question at different times might evoke different answers.
What would you miss if preaching ceased to exist? What makes a sermon work?
One thing is not negotiable. Faith comes through hearing. Is the sermon the carrier bag or the baggage? The word of God is his own message.
Let you know what we decided tomorrow. (It’s getting more like x-factor every week. We do have an extra nexus, you know, like they have an Xtra-Factor, in the Eagle straight after. Come to think of it, Smithy would be good Simon Cowell and Louis wrapped into one.)
Over and out, studio light is about to turn green…
