Anyone remember the BASIC programming language? Is there anyone, perchance, who remembers CESIL?
When I was a youngster, computer programming was part of Maths, as it was an exercise in logic. Writing a program to generate the fibonacci sequence was one of the first thing you did to learn about loops!
Computers were designed to carry out precise instructions precisely. If they didn’t perform as expected, it was because they were not instructed so. It was not their fault!
Many years later, but still many years ago, I was intrigued to learn about ‘fuzzy’ logic. Programming languages designed to work with a kind of imprecise logic, to do almost what you asked them to, but with some discretion of their own. This was designed to allow programs to ‘learn’ from experience, and change the way they obey instructions accordingly.
I don’t know what they do now – this kind of programming that is used in artificial intelligence will have moved on well beyond my experience.
What about us who have been translated into God’s kingdom. What logic do we use? How does the wisdom, that comes with the fear of God, work? How do we become conditioned to make Godly decisions?
Please have a guess at what you think the acronym might stand for…
My answer tomorrow.
