Chairs, tables and table-cloths are out already this evening for Olive Branch tomorrow. The sound of ping pong heard in the church hall tonight again, even though it is bank holiday. There’s dedication for you. Or, like my enthusiasm for Dr Who, is it ‘sadness?’ And the working group are in tomorrow – christmas tree getting ready for the chop chop. Pre-school staff in as well, always catching up to do with ideas, government inspired or misguided, that are part of statutory provision. As well as setting up for the young lives who come and grow here during the week.
At least the building has had a rest for a week. We could almost hear it breathe a sigh of relief as we left it for the last morning prayer meeting before the break.
But, this place was made for meeting, and that’s just what it will do. Meeting between people of all ages and backgrounds. It is not a temple – God does not live in a building made with hands. God is a building made up of living stones, which are people with hearts captured by his love.
The temple is about to return to the building.
