Most of it is vacuum, you know. Nothing there at all. But it is hard to imagine vacuum. Empty to us means ‘nothing obvious there,’ not nothing at all at all.
And it stretches as far as the eye can see. You get an eye that sees even further, ant it stretches to there as well. And it is also stretching. What there is there is moving further and further away from itself and us.
And here we are, with a universe that goes on without boundary, and to us it has been given as lights for the canopy, the sky. It is just as essential for life as so many other factors – like water, climate, perfect atmosphere, tilt of the axis, oversize moon…
Who are we, that such lavish detail should be paid to our existence? And then to come and inhabit, take our sin, and offer on-going God-life to anyone willing to surrender to Jesus.
How could we ever think we could reach you or have anything to give, other than what has already been given. You sent grace and truth. You boldly came, and boldly stay.
