It was the day to say goodbye to Mr Spoons today. Hymns, sharp memories from New Zealand, so many smiles from photographs, key songs, but most of all people witnessing to lives touched.
All happening in the same building as OnYourMarks, in the same building as the evening pilgrimage to Jerusalem, as Youth Club in a little while, and most other things.
Again, all centred on lives being touched.
When Jesus walked the Earth, his key message was that the kingdom of God is near. God is reaching out to touch. This is what our building is for, the physical structure and the people who belong.
Bruce Cockburn was at Greenbelt this year. He didn’t do this song, but it is the one that tells the story of how they came to rooted in his experience of God.
