While it is raining, it takes a great deal of imagination to think it could be sunny and cloudless. You can probably remember the feel of thsun hot weather a few days ago, but you will struggle to expect it to happen again soon. It takes an effort to ‘see’ what isn’t there, but nevertheless your body reminds you and longs for what it feels like.
You will know the writer to the Hebrews talking about faith as being the evidence of things we do not see, and the fact that our steps are directed by faith, not sight. God’s touch and impression on our lives – which is the substance of our faith – is like sun. Sometimes we are bathed in it, sometimes it is a very strong guiding impression when it is stormy and inclement (there’s a ‘nice’ word!)
Whatever your weather today, the Son is always shining, and no cloud can separate us from Him.
