Motto

Posted on 7th September 2012 by Stef Dnistrianskyj in Blog

I did once write a blog about a quote on the wall at M&S. I think things are getting worse. Shops that sell fancy household things are selling mottos. A series of words to put on the wall or mantelpiece, where the message is the medium.

Why do we suddenly want something, for people who visit us, to read? Are we trying to define ourselves?

Some of them are really funny. “Sometimes I Wake Up Grumpy, Usually I Let Him Lie In.” Maybe it’s postcard humour making a comeback.

Or, maybe it is words that strike us that we feel we need to ponder. We need to remind ourselves of. Words, the truth of which we want to have in our lives.

A lot of what Jesus said fits this category. Intriguingly scripture records ‘Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone, But By Every Word That Proceeds From The Mouth Of God.’ Jesus uses this as a motto to ram down Satan’s throat – well, maybe not ram down, but certainly to block the nonsense he was suggesting.

We do need to ingest the words of God, to let them reverberate in our being, and to be shaped by the living truth of the Living Word. If you are feeling that kind of hunger, munch on John. And believe it.

Funny your blog should be about that Stef. Yesterday I decided to hang some plaques that I have, some funny such as ‘We interrupt this marriage for the football season’ and also ‘If you want a little time on your own do the dishes’!!

I also have one which says ‘Expect a Miracle’ and amongst all the hustle and bustle of life and things I dont understand that’s exactly what i’ll try to do.

Sorry, as soon as I pressed ‘submit’ I thought that sounded a bit negative – didnt mean it to be! God has sent me many miracles over the years and I KNOW there will be more to come!
