The panels are back in the vicarage perimeter. They’re not the same, in fact they’re better, but I’d still rather the storm hadn’t damaged them. Still, we didn’t lose any doggies having the open plan version of the garden. It will be a lot longer before other storm victims can reflect in the same way, but good to hear the severe warnings are lifted.
Do we now live in a different country? Has our relationship with our home changed? Are we more respectful of the environment and its ways? Ready for more regular turbulent times in the future? I wonder!
We have tended to get into a pattern of resentment that normal is being spoiled, that someone is to blame. We have a right to security and comfort.
But no. We are not islands. We are meant to live in compassion with one another, it makes us human. To connect in joy and in sorrow. To be spent one for another. That is our security. Not our possessions.
This is the fuel of the kingdom of God. Practical love. Living Jesus style. It makes everyone feel good. Works so much more powerfully in lives surrendered to Jesus. There is no doubt we all need redemption.
Our prayer for the world. The mission we are sent on. To boldly go.
