Wow! The last few months have been amazing. It is great having a team dedicated to serving Christ at All Saints. Every week we give ourselves to loving God and loving each other and it is together that we are successful in bringing glory to the name of Jesus. We are so grateful that the Holy Spirit gives us strength and the confidence of Grace. Grace which is not opposed to effort, only to earning.
God has given us so much and as we look forward we need to be clear on where we are going? God is really challenging us to look not at “what is” (the circumstances that surround us) but at “who is” leading us ahead, calling and loving us. As we look through the eyes of faith, we realise that we are surrounded by Christ. Rev Nicky Gumbel said that, “seeking unity does not bring unity itself, but that submitting to vision raises the flag of Christ that we can follow together!”
So over the next few months the challenge is to raise the flag of Christ in our lives. To become who God is calling us to be so that we might see his will coming into being through us. Both spiritual endeavour and practical endeavour hand in hand.
Pastor Rick Warren points out that the if we want to live life to the full then this only happens when we live our lives as Christ lived, for others! He contends that Jesus had a “Purpose Driven Life” and so must we.
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)
1) We commit to Spiritual Development.
We believe that being part of the Music Ministry Team is a great privilege and a great responsibility. Our goal is to build a team of true worshippers who are passionate about God, His word, and His people and who recognise that they can not lead people where they are not going themselves. We believe that worship is far more than just a Sunday offering, it’s a daily life offering.
To help each of us grow in this area, we encourage the attendance of our weekly “Dwelling Time”, our termly “Vision Mornings” and regularly attend our services. However, to begin to press in, we really recommend either joining a Home Group or be in an accountable relationship with people (such as a prayer cell) who will love, support and challenge you.
2) We commit to Practical Development.
We believe that we are called to serve God and His people skilfully. Our goal is to build a team of true worshippers who use and are continually looking to develop the gifts God has given them to serve with. We will have workshops and offer training opportunities throughout the year. We will also offer feedback to help aid development in this area. We will provide materials to help develop those who want to test and grow in corporate worship leading.
3) We commit to Team Development.
We believe that we are to be a team who belong to one another. Our goal is to build a team of true worshippers who are like minded, one in spirit and purpose, who humbly consider others better than themselves, always trying to have the same attitude of Jesus. We ask that members of the team would pray, support, encourage, challenge and invest in each other. We will run regular team events to bring us together for fun and friendship as well as to seek the will of God.
It is fantastic to have this provision though the church, but ultimately it is by our own willful dedication to following Jesus Christ that we will be able to give ourselves fully to His purposes.
“They devoted themselves” (Acts 2:42)
Please take this invitation to your hearts. It may even feel uncomfortable, it is after all an echo of Jesus’ call to the disciples, and it isn’t without cost. God chooses to fulfill His purposes through us. We can’t do it without Him, nor each other. Choose life, choose abundant life.
