A game of monopoly, Star Wars Special Edition is underway at home. The Train Stations are Pod Racers, and Old Kent Rd is the swamps of Naboo, but it is still the same adventure, with the same rules.
In all the years I’ve played monopoly, I never realised you couldn’t buy properties on the first trip round the board. Many other rules may have been known, but jettisoned, in the pursuit to make the game shorter, or simply to allow it to finish once the boredom threshold had been crossed.
As long as you play by agreed rules, I don’t suppose it really matters. The monopoly police are not likely to call round and confiscate the game if it is not adhered to.
How would Jesus play monopoly? Would he insist on playing by the rules as written? Would he let you win? Would he play fairly?
I think it could be any or all of these, depending on which would surprise you and make you understand who he was better, and enable you to trust him more.
That is always his game.
