The importance of Prayer
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” [2 Chronicles 7:14]
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” [Colossians 4:2]
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” [Ephesians 6:18]
“‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.’” [Isaiah 56:7 & Mark 11:17]
Purpose
- To call on God’s promises
- To pray in Jesus’ name
- To proclaim God’s sovereignty
Format
We wish to recognise and respect each other and our different church backgrounds. To encourage each other to pray in freedom under the guidance of the Holy Spirit whether quietly or audibly, whether formally or spontaneously, whether individually, all together or in groups. There is also a time of praise and thanksgiving.
When
This is an inter-church initiative held at All Saints on the last Saturday of the month at 10am. For more information contact David Tarbuck (01253 891822) or Keith Ashworth (01253 855793).
All are welcome!
