I was at Synod this evening, talking about Alpha, by invitation.
I’m no expert, I don’t have a vested interest, but I do have a genuine respect for how this tool functions.
Alpha is about meeting, and that opportunity for meeting being richly resourced by well-delivered stuff to digest – friendship, food, teaching, and effective ears.
I used to be a teacher of the visually impaired, and then subsequently also trained to be a teacher of the hearing impaired. I suppose I was in the ear development business.
To develop hearing is all about providing a rich environment in which to hear, but also, and perhaps much more importantly, in which to be heard and to be given positive encouraging feedback about what has been heard. And so develop language. And through language explore the truth.
Alpha starts at All Saints tomorrow.
Let all those who have ears to hear, hear.
