1. What makes you tick?
2. What makes your alarm go off?
3. What stops you in your tracks?
You will have different answers for each question, and also different kinds of answers too.
My answer for 1, which is strange for a reclusive type of person, is others. There’s nothing like a need to respond to, that I find, even if I feel reluctant, get the internal clockwork mechanism cranking up again.
And again, considering 2, for a fairly self-contained person, laid back and easy going, it is unfairness, particularly that affects people I know and love, that makes me sees red, and ‘pop’ goes the fuse.
And 3? Well, that one is harder to describe with a specific example, but it is being apprehended by the Holy Spirit. Something that arrests you because it is the God of surprises making himself known.
I think 1 2 and 3 are areas where we see God making his presence known in our lives, increasing our sensitivity, and where we find ourselves functioning out of what we thought was our character.
What’s your 1 2 3?
1. A thirst for knowledge and improvement and whatever I am doing – studying, scripture, a physical challenge and giving 100% in trying to achieve. If you can dream it, you can achieve it!
2. Similar to Stef, unfairness – but things like bullying – both emotional and physical. Plus seeing a society that decreases daily in morals and goodness, or so it seems sometimes. But am I looking at a glass half empty today?
3. A reflection of number 2, and the weather! I get past this with the bible, faith and study, a trust in God that everything is well, and other things like sport and music, but not rugby league at the minute as Saints keep losing! (just trying to end on a lighter note!)
Sorry to hear about the Saints. Could be worse – if you were from Leigh!
1. Organizing and tidying, making order out of chaos gives me a sense of achievement, though am not
as good at it as I used to be!
2. Agree with Stef when things affect people we love it really gets us rattled! I hate the way some people
look at my daughter – who looks much younger than her years but has 3 children – and presume she
is a teenage unmarried mum!! They havnt a clue about the health battles she has faced and how
much she has achieved over the years (including just finishing a degree!)
3. Nature often stops me in my tracks and makes me wonder at God’s awesome power. A rainbow,
a sunset or a baby’s smile.
1. Listening to people and enjoying them
2. Unfairness to anyone and waste
3. A flock of bluebells, the evening blackbird song, a sunset, watching a child discovering something new, appreciation……..
