Things are changed.
The pre-School is no longer here. The noticeboards are empty, the sign is gone, the toys have found new homes.
Being invited along to the staff meal last night, though, you realise the team is still there. Even Annie, who stop being the manager a few years ago, fits effortlessly into the fellowship of people that was the pre-School staff. The spirit is the same.
And just as people I meet in Cleveleys, no connection with church now, still talk in a hushed, smiley, almost tear-in-eye away about when they were at Youth Club, or Shipshapes, so they will remember pre-School.
Love is a funny commodity, in whatever package it is served up. It brings life, and enables us to share life. It comes from God, and is best received fresh, and shared promptly, then the flow remains. But rather like food we eat can get stored as sugar (glucose or fat), so our experiences of love can nourish in tough or lonely times.
This gift of a hall we have came from love. How do we use it now during the week to make God felt and known? Please ask and see what answer you are given.
For now, a short rest for the building, and maybe for the staff, but our prayer is for them to deployed elsewhere to minister the love they are proficient in.
