I was walking the dog on Rossall Beach on Saturday afternoon, and this was the view as we got nearer to the Cafe. It was the bride and groom posing for photos by the sea – the bride and groom I’d just married, and whose reception I would be heading for once Bagel (the dog) was home and drying off.
A year or so ago, I first saw them from a distance. She being someone who had started working at the pre-school, he being someone who walked her home hand-in-hand.
As they came round to discuss a wedding, they had no grand ideas – just knew that that was the next stage in recognising their love for each other, before going off on their own adventure of life. Romantic, but realistic, and gripped by love.
Almost non-chalantly they did the Alpha-Course at our place, found that the evening service opened up windows on heaven, and as the monthly Ignite service has come on tap, they have found a deep vibe.
All weddings are unique, but this one seemed to wow everybody. All the trimmings were done by people who love them, and with love. And so it should be.
We are not immune from hassle, tragedy, disappointment or blues. But, if we allow our lives to be gripped by love, the love that explodes from Jesus-encounter, and becomes deeply deeply rooted, this is life to the full.
Thanks for sharing your wedding day with us.
